Student Initiatives

Belarussian Collegium

The Belarussian Collegium aims to promote democratic transformations in Belarussian society through the development of systematic, supplementary education and training in the social sciences and humanities. The Collegium serves as a forum for public lectures and discussions, and as a setting for intellectual, cultural, and artistic dialogues with the international intellectual community.

Belgrade Open School

The Belgrade Open School (BOS) acts as an alternative model to the more traditional forms of education prevalent in Serbia by providing multidisciplinary courses and tutorials, and by applying interactive methods of teaching. HESP began supporting BOS in 1998.

Southeast European Student Initiatives

Through the Southeast European Student Initiatives (SESI) program, HESP supports student initiatives which aim to contribute to the building of democratic, inclusive, and transparent systems of higher learning.

Student groups from the following higher education communities participate in the SESI program: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, and Serbia.

SESI grantees have created three student networks in the Southeast European region:
