Faculty Mobility

The HESP Mobility Program is designed to support visits to/from a HESP Network Institution (one of the institutions, sending or receiving, must be a HESP Network Institution).

Faculty members who plan to use the mobility grant to develop a new course, revise an existing one, and consult with colleagues on curriculum and teaching issues are eligible to apply. Please note that faculty members awarded a grant are expected to give a guest lecture or lead a discussion in their area of expertise at the host university.

Faculty members who are invited to give a series of lectures that will be recognized as an integral component of a particular course for students are eligible to apply for the faculty mobility program as well.

Eligible Regions/Countries

Faculty members teaching at higher education institutions in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria*, Croatia, Czech Republic*, Hungary*, Kosovo, Latvia*, Lithuania*, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland*, Romania*, Serbia, Slovak Republic*, Slovenia*, the former Soviet Union; and Mongolia who intend to visit another higher education institution in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, the former Soviet Union; and Mongolia

* (only employee of HESP Network Institutions)

Eligible Disciplines

Humanities, social sciences, business, and management.

Length of Visit

Up to one month.

Ineligible Activities

  • travel to and from Central European University;
  • travel to an institution in the home country;
  • teach at summer schools;
  • short course and seminar attendance;
  • participation in any kind of conference and congress.

Eligible Expenses

  • travel-related expenses (travel, visa, insurance);
  • living expenses;
  • accommodation;
  • book allowance.

Up to five grants per academic year may be awarded for visits to/from each HESP network institution.

Instructions to Applicants

  • All application materials must be in English or accompanied by an English translation.
  • Individuals may receive only one grant per academic year.
  • Simultaneous application to different institutions is not allowed.

Application Submission

Applications must be submitted at least two months prior to the proposed visit.
