OSI's Sexual Health and Rights Project is working with partner organizations to assess the engagement with and impact of the Global Fund for AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM) on sex workers; men who have sex with men (MSM); and lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities around HIV/AIDS efforts through this confidential survey.
A diverse response will help SHARP better understand the experiences of a variety of actors and organizations working with the GFATM process related to HIV prevention, care, treatment, and support. The goal is to collect information about:
- participation in the country coordinating process;
- response to calls for proposals;
- relationships with principal recipients of GFATM grants and experiences as subrecipients (where this has occurred).
SHARP is interested in understanding how GFATM is supporting sexual health and rights concerns at all levels of engagement—from minimal to extensive—in order to facilitate greater participation of sex workers, MSM, and LGBT communities in the GFATM-related process and to maximize the impact of GFATM resources for these communities.
SHARP also seeks more information about the technical assistance needs of sex worker, MSM, and LGBT organizations with respect to their efforts to address HIV in their communities more generally, beyond the GFATM processes.
Input is critical. Respondent names and contact information will be kept confidential and will not be used without prior consent. Please send replies and questions to Susana Fried, susana.fried@gmail.com, or fax to Rachel Thomas at OSI 1-646-557-2548 by April 17, 2006.
