A grant to provide funding for the travel and accommodation of 10 sex workers to attend the 4-day, Second Annual Sex Worker Rights Advocacy Network (SWAN) meeting in Kiev, Ukraine, April 2007. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss sex worker health and rights advocacy strategies, network development and network priorities, and the positive and negative experiences NGOs and sex workers encounter when demanding sex worker rights to legal protection, adequate health care and dignity. Trainers at the meeting delivered workshops on international advocacy, media and communications skills. The meeting was followed by a one-day sex worker only workshop which provided a safe space for sex workers to share concerns and experiences and to strategize jointly on how to address common rights violations.
