Keeping Alive Society's Hope
2008 A grant to improve the relationships between sex workers and law enforcement officials in Kisumu, Kenya. Keeping Alive Society's Hope (KASH) plans to conduct sensitization workshops for police and sex workers highlighting the health and human rights issues facing the sex worker community, and identify and train police and sex worker peer educators to work as liaisons to their respective communities. Additionally, KASH will organize monthly peer review forums so peer educators can continue to build skills, develop tools to capture monthly data on sex worker arrests and reports of harassment and abuse, assess project progress, and plan future work. This grant was funded in partnership with the Open Society Initiative for East Africa and the Public Health Program's Health Media Initiative and Law and Health Initiative.
