Association for Women's Rights in Development
2008

A grant to facilitate the participation of ten sex worker activists from across Southern Africa to participate in the November 2008 International Forum on Women's Rights and Development in Cape Town, South Africa. Organized every three years by the Association for Women's Rights in Development (AWID), the forum brings together women's rights leaders and activists from around the world to strategize, network, and learn. SHARP funding provided sex worker activists from Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe an opportunity to contribute to the dialogue and build strategic alliances with the women's rights movement. This grant was funded in partnership with the Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa.
