2008 A grant to support the education and sensitization of global health policy decisionmakers and activists regarding the negative impacts of the U.S. government's "anti-prostitution pledge" on sex worker's rights and health. The pledge requires organizations working to prevent the spread of HIV and AIDS to sign a statement opposing prostitution in order to receive U.S. funding. Specific project activities include: engaging in outreach to cultivate new allies in the movement to advance the sexual health and rights of sex workers; developing educational media pieces; and building the capacity of a working group of international advocates to convey critical messages regarding the harmful impacts of the intended and unintended consequences of anti-trafficking measures that rely on the criminalization of prostitution.
