2008

A grant to support advocacy to further the legal and human rights of sex workers in the Busia Municipality of Kenya. Project activities include conducting a needs assessment to identify the main issues faced by sex workers and holding meetings to discuss the assessment findings and sex workers' rights with key stakeholders, including police, bar managers, health care providers, civil society organizations, donors, local NGOs, and relevant government divisions.  The project will also mobilize the sex worker community to take legal action against those who have violated or abused their rights. This grant was funded in partnership with the Open Society Initiative for East Africa and the Public Health Program's Health Media Initiative.
