Grantee List

Grantees
Gays and Lesbians of Zimbabwe (GALZ)
2006

A grant to finance the editing, printing and distribution of 2000 copies of the book, African Homosexualities, A History, a joint project between Canadian Historian Marc Epprecht, University of Zimbabwe History Student Gerald Mazarire, and GALZ. The book challenges a number of hurtful stereotypes and blindspots in African societies, including the ideas that homosexuality is un-African and that same-sex sexuality is insignificant and basically irrelevant to the majority population. The book will be especially important for civil society groups like women’s and human rights associations who desire to build alliances with like-minded sexual rights associations such as GALZ .
