ASTRA Conference: "Women and HIV/AIDS in Central and Eastern Europe"
2005 On November 11–12, 2005, ASTRA, the Central and Eastern European Women’s Network for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, convened a variety of stakeholder groups from across Europe to discuss the intersection of reproductive health, sexual rights and AIDS. Supported by SHARP and OSI–Lithuania, the meeting built networks for communication and forged alliances among diverse advocates and NGOs with overlapping constituencies. It brought the perspectives of both service providers and human rights advocates to the discussion. A common theme involved how AIDS activists can build on successes of reproductive/sexual health and rights communities and vice versa.
