OSI’s Sexual Health and Rights Project (SHARP) works to improve the sexual health and rights of socially marginalized populations, with a focus on developing innovative service models, capacity building, education, and advocacy. SHARP has a broad geographic mandate and is undertaking activities in Africa, Southeast Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, and the former Soviet Union.
Access to Health Services
SHARP seeks to increase access to quality health services by promoting protection of sexual rights to prevent the further spread of HIV infection among socially marginalized populations in West Africa, Central and Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union (particularly Kyrgyzstan), and Southeast Asia.
Funding and Policy Support
SHARP aims to expand funding and policy support for evidence-based programs to secure comprehensive sexual health and rights for marginalized populations from the U.S. government with regard to HIV/AIDS.
Service Delivery and Advocacy
SHARP aims to increase service delivery and advocacy efforts by allied health and social justice communities targeting the sexual health and rights of socially marginalized populations.
