International Dialogue on Gender, Sexuality, HIV/AIDS and Human Rights: Focus on Asia

Location: Seoul, South Korea
Event Date: November 24, 2005 - November 27, 2005

Unimaginable cruelty and violence are regularly documented against individuals based on their perceived or actual gender, their sexual orientation, and their HIV/AIDS status. The “International Dialogue on Gender, Sexuality, HIV/AIDS and Human Rights: Focus on Asia” conference was initiated to promote change through capacity building, developing international standards, and generating strategic and well-defined priorities for NGOs working with women, LGBT people, and those infected with HIV/AIDS who struggle for human rights.

ARC International took the lead role in initiating this conference, working closely with the Korean Sexual-Minority Culture and Rights Center (KSCRC). Cofunders for the conference included the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, CIDA, Ford Regional Desk, Asia Foundation, Astraea Lesbian Foundation, Unions, and the Open Society Institute.
