America Knows Best? U.S. Government Policies and Global HIV Prevention

As part of its Brown Bag Lunch Series, OSI's Public Health Program presented a panel discussion on how U.S. policies toward needle exchange, abstinence, and sex work are undermining HIV prevention efforts abroad. Panelists provided updates on these three key issues and the challenges of working on HIV prevention in the current political environment.
Participants included:
- Daniel Wolfe, Deputy Director, OSI's International Harm Reduction Development Program;
- Jonathan Cohen, Researcher, HIV/AIDS and Human Rights Program - Human Rights Watch, and Co-author of the Human Rights Watch report “The Less They Know the Better: Abstinence-Only HIV/AIDS Programs in Uganda”;
- Sue Simon, Director, OSI's Sexual Health and Rights Program.
