Meeting: Sexual and Reproductive Health Affinity Group

Location: Cuernavaca, Mexico
Event Date: October 23, 2005 - October 24, 2005

SHARP Project Director Sue Simon joined more than 70 donors working on international and domestic issues related to sexual and reproductive health at the annual meeting of the Funders Network on Population, Reproductive Health and Rights in Cuernavaca, Mexico. Highlights of the meeting included sessions on the challenges of scaling up innovative service models, determining how to better integrate HIV/AIDS and sexual/reproductive health programs, and assessing the impact of religion on reproductive health policies. Additionally, the meeting was an opportunity to meet other funders and explore what joint funding initiatives might be possible. OSI received significant support for its lawsuit against USAID, and participants reflected on the need for more donor support for services and advocacy activities targetting the needs of sex workers and other socially marginalized populations in relation to HIV/AIDS.
