OSI Awards Scholarships for Conference on Right to HIV/AIDS Care for Migrants and Ethnic Minorities in Europe

OSI’s Roma Health Project announces scholarship recipients for attending the European AIDS Treatment Group (EATG) conference "The Right to HIV/AIDS Prevention, Treatment, Care and Support for Migrants and Ethnic Minorities in Europe: The Community Perspective" in Lisbon, Portugal, June 7-8, 2007. Out of 26 applications of very high quality, the following applicants were awarded the scholarship:

  • Aret Sakir, Roma Non-Governmental Organization CDRIM, Macedonia
  • Jordan Vasic, Democratic Association of Roma, Serbia
  • Fedor Kondur, International Charitable Organization of Roma Women Fund “Chiricli,” Ukraine

Organized by EATG and the Grupo Portugues de Activistas sobre Tratamentos de VIH/SIDA Pedro Santos, the conference will bring together 150 participants including health planners, representatives of ethnic minorities and migrants, activists, and European policymakers. The goal is to promote universal access to adequate HIV/AIDS care and treatment for migrants and minorities living in Europe. The Roma Health Project will support a session focusing on outreach and HIV/AIDS services to Roma communities.
