The grant is to support the organization of a regional seminar on TB and Social Exclusion in Eastern Europe. RHP is collaborating with World Lung Foundation, the International Union against TB and Lung Disease, and the World Health Organization. The meeting will take place February 5-6, in Salzburg, Austria with the goal of increasing TB policy-maker and selected NGO capacity to address the role of social exclusion in TB control. The seminar will explore the theoretical basis of social exclusion and its impact on TB epidemiology, as well as current data, policy frameworks, and program opportunities. The emphasis of the seminar will be on possible programs and strategies, particularly for marginalized populations such as the Roma.
