Treatments Activists Group on HIV/AIDS
2007

The purpose of the grant is to advocate for HIV/AIDS care and treatment programs to take Roma community needs into account and to give Roma activists an opportunity to learn from international health expertise and models. Ten Roma activists and civil society representatives will be supported to participate at the conference “The Right to HIV/AIDS Prevention, Treatment, Care and Support for Migrants and Ethnic Minorities in Europe: The Community Perspective,” in Lisbon (Portugal), on June 7-8, 2007, organized by the Treatments Activists Group on HIV/AIDS (GAT) and the European AIDS Treatment Group (EATG).

The conference will bring together 150 participants including health planners, representatives of ethnic minorities and migrants, activists, and European policymakers. The goal is to promote universal access to adequate HIV/AIDS care and treatment for migrants and minorities living in Europe. The grant will support organizing a session on outreach and HIV/AIDS services to Roma communities.
