Fostering the Availability of Better Data and Evidence Concerning Roma Health

The grant will support the organization of a panel discussion, “Left Out: Access of Roma to Health Care,” within the framework of the European Public Health Alliance (EPHA) 2007 annual conference, "Health in the Enlarged European Union,” in Bratislava (Slovakia) on April 16-17, 2007. The conference explores the impact of European Enlargement on the health of citizens, with specific attention to Central and South Eastern European countries.

The panel discussion is on health and human rights of minorities in an expanding Europe; participants include individuals from Roma Health Project partners and grantees the Initiative for Health Foundation (Bulgaria), Open Society Foundation Bratislava (Slovakia), Equal Opportunities for Women and Children NGO (Romania), and Romani C.R.I.S.S. (Romania), who will share lessons learned from their projects promoting Roma access to health services.
