Addressing Direct and Indirect Discrimination in Roma Access to Health Care

Grantee List

Grantees
European Roma Rights Centre
2006

Funds are to challenge discrimination faced by Roma in exercising their right to health care in Bulgaria and Serbia through legal action and international advocacy. The ERRC will make use of relevant international law opportunities to challenge disproportionate exclusion of Roma from health insurance. The organization will also file an advocacy submission at the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women on matters including lack of equal access of Roma women to appropriate and quality health services. The legal action and advocacy will be backed by existing research and the organization's recent study documenting systemic barriers faced by Roma in accessing health services and discriminatory practices of health care providers.
