Drug Use and Roma: A Regional Conversation

Location: Bucharest, Romania
Event Date: November 8, 2007 - November 9, 2007

OSI’s Roma Health Project and International Harm Reduction Development Program joined the ARAS-Romanian Association Against AIDS in Bucharest to hold an OSI seminar entitled "Drug Use and Roma: A Regional Conversation." The seminar provided an opportunity for Roma activists and health service providers to learn about and share views on public health and human rights approaches to addressing drug use in Roma communities.

The seminar brought together more than 40 participants from 10 countries. OSI is planning to organize a follow-up seminar in 2008 targeting NGOs and health officials to increase knowledge on establishing harm reduction services appropriate to Roma and other minority communities.
