VUKA Tanzania started in 1999 as a community-based organization and was officially registered as a non- governmental organization in 2001. The organization’s mission is to provide education, care, and support as a way of strengthening community involvement in response to poverty and health epidemics. Since 1999, it has focused its efforts to respond to the HIV/AIDS epidemic among marginalized populations.

VUKA Tanzania will implement community-led monitoring and advocacy activities in the municipality of Temeke, in the Dar es Salaam region of Tanzania.
