The OSI Law and Health Initiative and International Harm Reduction Development Program brought together Russian lawyers and harm reduction advocates for a meeting to discuss the expansion of legal services for drug users in Russia.  Lawyers with experience taking cases on behalf of drug users discussed the kinds of cases they encounter, the challenges of providing legal services to socially marginalized groups, and proposed ideas for expanding and institutionalizing their work.

IHRD has supported legal services for drug users in a number of countries and is joining with LAHI to expand these efforts. The meeting took place in Moscow on May 15, 2006, the opening day of the Eastern European and Central Asian AIDS Conference.
