Guidelines

The Law and Health Initiative supports the establishment of human rights guidelines and the training of health workers in the delivery of medical care to vulnerable groups. The initiative also supports legal action to remedy abuses in the health care system, such as denial of care, medical negligence, forced treatment of drug users and people with mental and intellectual disabilities, and discrimination against women and girls, Roma and other minorities, people living with HIV/AIDS, and other marginalized groups.

LAHI welcomes letters of intent from organizations seeking support for projects in one of five focus areas. Please observe the following guidelines. Letters of intent should:

  • be no more than two pages
  • describe the general purpose of the application, the proposed project, and the organization seeking funds
  • disclose any current or previous funding from LAHI or any other OSI or Soros foundation program
  • be sent by email (no phone inquiries please) to lawandhealth@sorosny.org.

Letters may be brief and informal.

Geographically, LAHI limits its support to Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, sub-Saharan Africa, and China and Southeast Asia.

Applicants invited to submit a full application or who wish to review LAHI’s application guidelines, please see the application form, available for download below.
