Equal Partners: Health and Human Rights 2007

Location: Cape Town, South Africa
Event Date: June 3, 2007 - June 8, 2007

The centerpiece of this meeting was a three-day health and human rights training which was designed in close collaboration with Soros foundations network staff and Equitas, a leading international human rights education organization. The goal of the workshop was to build upon the strengths of both the public health and rule of law programs, and provide opportunities to catalyze collaborations between the two programs and more broadly across the network and advance advocacy and grantmaking at the intersection of health and human rights.

This event was the first jointly-sponsored conference of the OSI Public Health Program and the Human Rights and Governance Grants Program in collaboration with the Open Society Justice Initiative. The meeting brought together public health coordinators, law program coordinators, and executive directors from approximately twenty Soros foundations; network program directors; OSI policy office representatives; Global Health Advisory Committee members; and staff from the three programs.
