Call for Applications: Palliative Cancer Care
April 25, 2006

The International Palliative Care Initiative announces a new funding program that will provide a two-year grant to a cancer center or general hospital with a focused oncology program, to support the salary of a clinical palliative care physician to develop a palliative care program. One-hundred percent salary support will be provided during the first year, and 50 percent salary support will be provided for the second year. The institution submitting the application must agree to pay the remaining 50 percent salary support during the second year.

The institution’s application must be for one of the following programs only:

  • develop an inpatient palliative care consult service within a cancer center/institute or general hospital with a focused oncology program;
  • develop an inpatient palliative care unit with dedicated beds within a cancer center/Institute or general hospital with a focused oncology program;
  • develop an outpatient palliative care clinic out of the cancer center/institute or general hospital with a focused oncology program;
  • develop a home-based palliative care service or hospice as an extension of an existing inpatient palliative care service in the cancer center/institute or general hospital with a focused oncology program.

Eligible Countries

Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Serbia, Slovenia.

Deadline

June 1, 2006.
