Iraq—In Search of Truth and Trust

Audio:
Event Date: April 7, 2009
Speakers: Tina Susman, Mark Schoofs

The Open Society Fellowship program hosted a discussion led by Los Angeles Times Baghdad bureau chief Tina Susman. Susman's reports from Iraq have explored how two critical components of a healthy society—truth and trust—are maddeningly elusive for Iraqis (and for news reporters).

Susman, a veteran correspondent who has covered everything from the Rwandan genocide to the Michael Jackson trial, discussed the texture of ordinary life in Iraq as well as the overall state of the surge.

Open Society Fellow Mark Schoofs introduced the event.
