About
The Centre is committed to provide information about international education opportunities. Their activities include ordering new resource materials; providing free Internet access, maintaining an Internet Center; maintaining their website in Azeri and English; increasing the variety of the lectures and workshops; finding new opportunities on education in the USA and other countries, promoting Soros scholarships in Azerbaijan. They organize career lectures and workshops on communication and presentation skills, conflict resolution and working with media. They also deliver educational, scientific and training programs, including the yearly Educational Fair. BEIC administers conversation groups for high school students and adults, coordinates alumni activities; builds stronger ties with the regional EICs.
OSI Affiliation
Baku Education Information Centre (BEIC) is an independent education and information centre created and supported by the Open Society Institute (OSI - Azerbaijan) The first agency that provided the information on American Education in Azerbaijan was the Advising Center at the U.S. Embassy. In May 1997 the U.S. Embassy together with OSI established the Baku Education Information Centre (BEIC). Until April 2000 it was part of the OSI. In April 2000, BEIC became an independent non-government organization (NGO) and was supported by OSI-Assistance Foundation and U.S. Department of State.
