About

“Step by step” Benevolent Foundation (SbS BF)aims to support democratic reforms in educational system of Armenia. Main activities include implementing “Step by Step program. (SbS introduces child-centered methodology by promotes children’s analytical thinking, individualization, and helps them become life-long learners.) They implement the Reading and Writing Critical Thinking (RWCT) program which promotes democratization of teaching and learning process in general and higher education by creating an open and efficient environment for students to demonstrate their maximum potential. The goal of the RWCT program in Armenia is to assist teachers of all grade levels to develop new approaches and methods for improvement of education and enhancement its effectiveness. SbS BF also implements Community Based Education program. This provides quality educational services for families unable to send their children to kindergarten. They carry out Web Publishing programs, cooperates with other organizations that work in the field of education in Armenia and are involved in international projects.

OSI Affiliation

Step by Step program beganto work in Armenia in 1998 within the structure of OSI AF Armenia. In 2000, the program span off from OSI and got registered as a separate legal entity under the status of a local NGO. It became an institutional partner of OSI AF Armenia and undertook implementation of Step by Step and Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking (RWCT) programs. OSI provides financial support to the Step by step Benevolent Foundation (SBS BF) and helps its professional and institutional growth ensuring that the NGO gains sustainability after OSI funding is exhausted.
