About

Established in February 2001 Ec-pec aims to help Roma and disadvantaged children achieve school success with cooperating with teachers, parents, students, municipalities, labor organizations, representatives of the public sphere and other organizations. They are the Hungarian full member of the International Step by Step (ISSA) program which promote the child-centered Step by Step pedagogical program in institutions (preschools, schools) educating disadvantaged children. Their activities include: 1. providing up-to-date training programs (anti-bias training, cooperative learning, Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking (RWCT), individual development based on observation) 2. improving and developing Step by Step methodology; 3. establishing and run a national network of model school sites and regional centers; 4. participating in international, EU and country projects related to Roma education.

OSI Affiliation

Ec-pec participated in the Roma Special Schools Initiative project supported by Open Society Institute between 2001 and 2003 , and worked with REI between 2003 and 2005
