About
The purpose of EDS is teaching rhetorics, introducing and developing different forms debate in Estonia. There is a special focus on teaching debate to students in schools and universities. Other significant areas of activity are teacher training, introduction of rhetorics into the secondary school curriculum and publishing activities associated to the above, visiting international tournaments and seminars. Estonian Debating Society received the best Estonian NGO in 2004 award from the Network of Estonian Nonprofit Organizations.
OSI Affiliation
Estonian Debating Society (EDS) is a movement, which began to work in 1994 as a program of the Open Estonia Foundation (part of the Soros Foundations), and became an independent NGO in 1998. EDS is a member of IDEA.
