Transparency, Ethics, and Anticorruption Measures in Education

OSI's Education Support Program, in cooperation with UNESCO's International Institute of Education Planning and the International Renaissance Foundation, organized a seminar, "Transparency, Ethics, and Anticorruption Measures in Education."

Aims

The aims of this seminar were as follows: (i) information and awareness-building regarding issues of corruption in education; (ii) initial exposure to methodologies of anticorruption measures; and (iii) initiation of policy dialogue regarding anticorruption in education. The seminar was designed to pave the way for future activities (research, studies, projects, capacity building, etc.).

  • Challenges of addressing corruption in education
  • Methodology for mapping corruption
  • Tracking expenditures; private tutoring
  • The relationship between financing of education and corruption

Lectures were combined with "show and tell" sessions by country teams.

Participants

The seminar was offered for representatives from Ukraine, Russia, Moldova, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia. Two to three participants from each country, altogether about 21 participants, were invited.
