Third General Assembly of the Network of Education Policy Centers

Location: Bucharest, Romania
Event Date: December 7, 2008 - December 8, 2008

The Third Network of Education Policy Centers (NEPC) General Assembly, organized by CEDU 2000+, was attended by representatives of 18 NEPC member centers. The assembly approved two new member applicants (the Center for Educational Policy from Serbia and the Forum for Freedom in Education from Croatia), and the number of the participating countries increased to 20 organizations.

Besides discussing NEPC organizational issues, NEPC member centers had the opportunity to present their ongoing projects. They presented the Private Tutoring project, the next phase of which is carried out in 2009. NEPC also introduced the new initiative on the Education Corruption Index, which they aim to establish as a valid and potential monitoring system respected by local, national and international educational stakeholders including parents. Members were asked to comment and try to find possible ways for funding for this project in their own countries.

The NEPC Board presented the idea of organizing the second NEPC Summer School in Georgia in July 2009. More information will be available on the NEPC website soon. CEDU 2000+ provided a workshop for NEPC members on the subject “From NGO to Business,” where their team shared their experience in becoming a company.
