ELP Director Receives World Learning Award
April 2, 2004

Maja Danon, the director of OSI's English Language Programs, received a World Learning Award today from the School for International Training at World Learning, a U.S.-based umbrella organization involved in programs ranging from education to civil society and social justice.

Danon has headed English Language Programs since 1994. She oversees initiatives designed to build local capacity in English-language teaching and management throughout the Soros foundations network, from Mongolia to Haiti.

World Learning said Danon was being honored for "helping build a vital network of educators who share values across cultures, and fostering, within that network, the professional development of English language teachers and managers."

About World Learning

Founded in 1932 as The Experiment in International Living, World Learning is one of the first private, nonprofit, international educational services organizations in the world. World Learning's broad spectrum of educational and training programs enables participants—individuals and institutions—to develop the leadership capabilities and cross-cultural competence required to advance international understanding, work effectively in multicultural environments, and achieve sustainable development at the community level or on a national scale.
