OSI's Global Drug Policy program aims to broaden, diversify, and consolidate the network of like-minded organizations and individuals that are actively challenging the current state of international drug policy. Stemming from the notion that the "war on drugs" is actually a "war on drug users," the program advocates a more balanced approach in international drug policy with a greater focus on human rights. The program is dedicated to utilizing scientific evidence and input from organizations and individuals engaged in and affected by drug use and drug policy in the development of policy recommendations.

As a global program, the Global Drug Policy program is open to proposals from organizations all around the world. In 2009, we will seek to expand our support of projects in Africa and Asia.

Projects which focus on harm reduction, rather than national or international drug policy, should consider applying for funding from OSI’s International Harm Reduction Development program.

In 2009, the program will accept applications on a rolling basis from March 1 until October 1. An application form (in English) is available for download below. Please submit completed applications to proposals_drugpolicy@sorosny.org.
