Marla Ruzicka

Founder, Campaign for Innocent Victims In Conflict

Marla Ruzicka is an advocate who began a door-to-door survey of civilian casualties in Iraq the day after Saddam Hussein's statue was toppled in April 2003 during the Iraq war. She founded a non-profit organization, Campaign for Innocent Victims In Conflict (CIVIC), and formed survey teams to fan out across Iraq and gather first-hand accounts of civilian casualties.

In 2001-2002, Ruzicka worked in Afghanistan carrying out surveys and advocating for assistance for civilian casualties related to Operation Enduring Freedom, the U.S.-led invasion to overthrow the Taliban.
