EU Foreign Policy and the Euro Crisis

Heather Grabbe, director of OSI-Brussels, joins other leading foreign policy experts in a joint letter to EU leaders. The euro crisis is pulling valuable resources, attention and strategic thinking from EU foreign policy. A Europe that neglects its relations with external partners, limits its resources for external action, overly protects its markets, appears internally fractious, underplays its hand on the world stage, and stops promoting its own underpinning values, is at the whim of other international actors. “Investment in foreign policy is an investment in the long-term viability of European freedom, prosperity and security.”
