Integration and Inclusion of Minorities

The continued segregation, discrimination, and extreme poverty faced by the Roma is one of the most critical of deficits for open society in Europe today. OSI-Brussels advocates for the development of a consistent EU Roma strategy which is based on the Decade of Roma Inclusion. OSI-Brussels also advocates for the effective use of existing EU funding, for new funding instruments, and for the alignment of EU policy and funding with the national action plans of the Decade of Roma Inclusion. OSI-Brussels is a consultation partner of the European Commission on Roma and works with various European Commission departments in the areas of social inclusion, anti-discrimination, microfinance, entrepreneurship, and health.

OSI-Brussels also assists the EU Monitoring and Advocacy Program Muslims in the EU: City Reports team with monitoring relevant initiatives, identifying partners and the review of initial report findings, and helps to identify further action at European level. We also work with the Open Society Justice Initiative in advocating for an EU standard prohibiting racial profiling by law enforcement agencies.
