General support for Suaram

Suaram is an independent NGO guided by the principles laid out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Malaysian NGO Human Rights Charter. Its five core programs are Right to Justice, Human Rights Defense, Local and Participatory Democracy, Documentation and Monitoring, and Outreach and Membership Development. Activities include research and writing reports on topics such as Malaysia's International Security Act and race relations; creating educational cartoons, songs, and posters on basic rights; developing a network and building capacity of human rights defenders; and advocating for return of local elections.
