Jane Sundius Testifies at the Maryland State Board of Education
Jane Sundius, director of OSI-Baltimore’s Education and Youth Development Program, testified on April 27, 2010, before the Maryland State Board of Education during a discussion on the effects of long-term suspension and expulsions on students.
Her statement provides an assessment of the use of suspension and expulsion in Maryland, summarizes key research findings about school exclusion practices and the characteristics of effective student behavior practices, and provides recommendations for educational services and suspension/expulsion policies in Maryland.
