Ban the Box: Ending Employment Discrimination Against Formerly Incarcerated Individuals

Location: Baltimore, MD
Event Date: May 16, 2007

The Open Society Institute–Baltimore, Job Opportunities Task Force, and University of Maryland School of Law host a lunchtime discussion on ending employment discrimination against formerly incarcerated individuals.

Other cities have removed the “box” on job applications where prospective employees are asked to check “yes” or “no” to indicate if they have ever been convicted of a crime. Banning the box helps to reduce employment discrimination against people who have been convicted of a crime. Come learn how this effort progressed in Chicago and decide if it's a good idea for Baltimore.

Featured Speaker: Angela Rudolph, Assistant to the Mayor, City of Chicago

Boxed lunches will be provided.

Location

University of Maryland School of Law
Re-Entry of Ex-Offenders Clinic
500 W. Baltimore Street, Room 107

In addition to street parking, garages are located at Paca and Baltimore Streets, as well as at Paca and Lexington.
