The Soros Foundation Romania supports activities focusing on EU accession, NGO development, interethnic relations, education, child protection, domestic and EU legal issues, public health, and economic development.

The foundation has also provided equal opportunity training; helped people adapt to changing labor markets; assessed public sentiment regarding politics, reform, and EU accession; worked to establish NGO representation; provided grants, training, education projects, consultancy and community development activities to benefit Romani NGOs, initiative groups, and communities; introduced programs to prevent child abuse, abandonment and institutionalization; aided community centers and libraries in providing continuing education services and local, online newspapers.
