The Open Society Forum (OSF) promotes active participation in Mongolian civic life. The successor of the Mongolian Foundation for Open Society (MFOS), OSF builds on the legacy of the foundation’s eight years of work in the country. OSF aims to provide physical and virtual space for high-quality policy research and analysis; broad public access to information resources about policies, laws, and regulations; and a venue for public engagement in policy formulation and implementation.
Focusing on two core areas, democratic governance and economic policy, OSF pursues the following goals:
- increasing the openness and transparency of the state, and developing broad capacity to monitor state activities;
- enhancing the role of NGOs in society and creating a more favorable environment for citizen involvement in public decision-making processes;
- strengthening local governance by improving the balance between local and central government authority;
- facilitating public dialogue on the economic direction in which Mongolia is and should be heading;
- improving research and policy dialogue on key economic issues.
